Tap & Go is Secure
Similar to a chip card, contactless payment transactions use a one-time security code that is unique to that transaction. This protects your payment information from being used for future unauthorized purchases.
You are also able to add your Keen Bank contactless debit card to your digital wallet on your phone or smartwatch to pay contactless using apps like Apple Pay or Google Pay.

What is contactless payment?
Contactless payment uses short-range wireless technology to make secure payments between a contactless card or payment-enabled device and a contactless-enabled payment reader. Cardholders can tap or hold their card near the contactless symbol and their payment is sent for authorization. Contactless cards also come with a chip and magnetic stripe so you can easily insert or swipe at the payment reader.
How do I know if my card is equipped with contactless technology?
Simply locate the contactless symbol on your card. The symbol includes four curved lines that look like the Wi-Fi symbol turned on its side.
How do I tap my card?
When you are at the payment reader that has the contactless symbol, simply tap or hold your card near the contactless symbol on the card.
Is tapping safe?
Yes. Contactless offers the same security as EMV chip card transactions but an added benefit of contactless is that you can’t pay accidentally. Cards must be 1-2 inches from the payment reader and you won’t be billed twice, even if you tap twice or hold longer than 1-2 seconds.
Where can I pay with my contactless card?
You can use your contactless card anywhere you see the contactless symbol. This includes fast food restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores, pharmacies, retail stores and much more. If you don’t see the contactless symbol, you can still pay by inserting or swiping your card.
Can I use my contactless card in my digital wallet?
Yes, if you add your contactless card to your digital wallet, you use it anywhere you see the contactless symbol displayed on a payment reader through an apps like Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Can I get a debit card without contactless technology?
We have upgraded our cards to all have the contactless feature, however you can continue to insert or swipe your Keen Bank debit card if you wish.
What if I don’t want to or can’t tap my debit card?
You can still insert or swipe your debit card at any payment reader. The contactless upgrade is just a more secure, simpler way to pay.
Are there any additional fees for my new contactless card?
No, the contactless feature is included at no additional cost.
Yes, Keen Bank can reissue a contactless personal debit card in house in a matter of minutes at our Waseca and Owatonna locations. If you misplace your business debit card, we can order a new card to be shipped directly to you, within 7-10 business days.
